【报告题目】Creating deterministic collisions between two Rydberg electrons in a helium-like atom

【报告摘要】We aim to create deterministic collisions between two Rydberg electrons by applying a time-dependent external force to one or both electrons in a helium-like atom. Specifically, we have devised a mathematical framework for causing deterministic collisions by launching an inner orbiting electron to a higher energy such that this inner electron is guaranteed to collide with the outer electron. Our method first expresses the problem mathematically as coupled nonlinear differential equations with a time-dependent driving force and solves to find a feasible solution for the force function. Our approach to electron-electron collisions, pertinent to the case that both electrons are “planetary”,  is a radical departure from standard electron-electron collision theory and could open new avenues for studying electronic properties of effective two-electron atoms.
